--- KAOHSIUNG paintings It has the important aspect for me to walk and take photos in order to “touch the boundary” between inner myself and the outer world. My work starts from this point primitively, speaking of very personal reasons. This series started from taking photos in Kaohsiung city in Taiwan, when I visited there on an occasion of attending the art fair. I stayed there for three days, and encountered the colourful life and activity in this tropical region. --- Stay beyond (the boundary) The boundary line that lies between us is like the skin that tells us we can never be completely identical.I believe it is like the horizon. Even if we thought we reached out and touched it with our hand we could not go the other side of the line. But that’s alright. That’s because knowing should not be such an easy thing. To find the point of contact between herself and the world (=the other), I walk and show the boundary line, and try to let the viewers feel “in between”. In the far off boundary line shown in white, there is a landscape seen by the artist. You would not truly know the things seen by the artist in the real meaning. However, I want you to try and follow the process of deconstructing each colour of the scenery as if tracing the artist’s thoughts. Hopefully your imagination will work as it tries to understand the true landscape seen by someone other than yourself. When you notice the boundary line, I want to recall the true beauty of the ability granted to human, this power of imagination. So that people can greet the world and the calm, kind future, which is embraced in whatever form it comes. --- KAOHSIUNG paintings 知らない土地をあるき、写真を撮ることは、わたし自身とそとの世界との境界に触れるための重要な側面を担っています。ごく個人的な理由を話せば、ここからすべての制作はスタートしていると言ってもいい。このシリーズは、台湾の高雄市にアートフェア参加のため訪れたときに、写真を撮ることから始まりました。わたしはここに3日間滞在し、この熱帯地方のカラフルな生活と人々の営みに出会いました。 --- Stay beyond (the boundary) わたしたちの“あいだ”に横たわる境界線は、おたがいが完全に同一とはなれないという意味での皮膚のようなもの。それは地平線のようだとも思う。その向こうに手を伸ばし触れられたと思えても、いっこうに向こう側へは行けない。けれど、それでいい。だって本来「知る」とは簡単なことではないはずだから。 わたしは、自己と世界（＝他者）との接点を探ることを目的に、それらの境界をあるくこと、その境界線を示すこと、その“あいだ”を感じてもらうことを制作のテーマとしています。白で示した境界線の向こうに作家の見た景色があります。あなたは作家の見てきたものを本当の意味で正確には知らない。ただ、景色の色への解体のプロセスを作家の思考をなぞるように追ってみてほしい。そこにじぶんではない誰かの見た本当の景色を知ろうとする想像力がはたらくはずだと期待します。 あなたがその境界線に気づいたとき、想像力というひとに与えられた本来の美しい能力を思い出したい。ひとが世界とありのまま受け入れあえる、穏やかでやさしい未来をむかえるために。 ////////// 2017 Acrylic on canvas 130x130x6.5cm
